The Rolling Stones ex-guitarist Mick Taylor has said the band have been "re-energised" by their 50-year anniversary gigs.

Taylor, who joined the band onstage at four of the five anniversary concerts, said the band are "re-energized and possibly very enthusiastic about doing things in the future".

Speaking to Billboard ahead of tonight's pay-per-view show in Newark, New Jersey, Taylor said: "I just have an intuitive feeling that if they want to do some more shows, they can. There's no reason why they shouldn't be able to."

Taylor admits that he was anxious to see how The Rolling Stones would hold up on stage during their recent gigs and acknowledges that he "had his doubts" performing with the band again – he joined them on stage for 'Midnight Rambler'.

"It's been really amazing, thrilling and exciting," he said. "It's been great to play with the band again. I still get the same feeling that I used to get when we played on stage before. I'm a lot more outgoing and not quite as shy as I used to be, so in that respect it's different. I feel re-energised by the experience, too."

On the band performing live with three guitarists (himself, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood), he added: "We didn't even think about it; in a strange way all three guitars kind of blend seamlessly into each other, especially if the sound is really good on stage."

The Rolling Stones are set to play the final night of their 50th anniversary tour at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey tonight (December 15), where an all star cast featuring Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen and Black Keys will join them onstage. .

"We're excited these extraordinary artists, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys, had agreed to help celebrate our 50th anniversary as we share the night live with our fans all over the world," the band said in a statement on their official app. "Now the fun begins of trying to figure out the best songs to perform together."

Tweeting about the gig, Lady Gaga wrote: "He had me at 'Hello, it's Mick'."

The band's two London show's at the O2 Arena saw them joined by Jeff Beck, Mary J Blige, Eric Clapton and Florence Welch. Blige and Gary Clark Jr also joined them onstage in Brooklyn and John Mayer joined them on the first night in Newark on Thursday (December 13).
